Spring time is just around the corner. The trees have sprung to life and it is time for the crappie, bass, stripers, and most other fish to do there thing.
Crappie are being caught on all the Yadkin lakes. We have been seeing some nice fish from Badin Lake in the last couple weeks. They seem to be about 8 feet deep and are hitting jigs and minnows. The Kalin's Triple Threat jigs are producing some nice slabs. Try some of the docks down in the Beaver Dam Creek area. Tuckertown has been producing some good numbers of fish although the fish on average have been a bit smaller than on Badin Lake. Try Newsome (go under the railroad bridge) for a little clearer water. Slow trolling along the bank is a good way to catch a lot of fish in this area of the lake. Nice crappie are also being caught on High Rock Lake. Try the Panther Point area of the lake. Charlie Brewer's crappie sliders in the Junebug/Chartreuse or Black/Chartreuse colors have been a good bait lately.
Largemouth Bass are beginning to start there pre spawn activity. Suspending jerk baits seem to be doing well. Shad Raps in the #5 size are also good baits this time of year. But don't forget about the 1/4 and 3/8 ounze jigs. Green Pumpkin Lunker Lure Rattlebacks are our best selling jigs right now. As we move into early spring the Zoom Trick worms will also produce good fish.
Some decent catfish are coming in from behind Tuckertown dam (Badin side). As always be extremely careful fishing in this area as the current from the dam can be very treacherous.
We have a free crappie contest each week. Just come in and sign up each day before you go fishing and then bring a big slab back for us to weigh. If you have signed up and your fish is the largest of the week you get a $25 gift certificate to spend in the store.
Our grill special right now is 2 hot dogs and a 12 ounce drink for $3.
See Ya Soon,
